SUMMARY:

Geography is the science that studies the relationships between society and nature and the transformations these relationships produce in geographic space. However, despite advances in Geography as a scientific discipline, Geography education still faces challenges related to the predominance of teaching practices centered on the memorization and description of content, which may hinder students' critical understanding of reality. In this context, the use of diverse teaching and learning resources has been recognized as an important strategy for strengthening the teaching–learning process. Among these resources, museums stand out because their collections enable students to engage with different forms of knowledge and broaden the possibilities for understanding school subjects. From this perspective, the present study aims to develop educational activities that promote the use of the collection of the Geology Museum of the State University of Maringá (UEM) as a teaching resource for Geography education. This research is justified by the lack of studies focusing on the UEM Geology Museum and on the potential use of its collection within the context of basic education. To achieve this objective, the study seeks to reconstruct the historical development of the institution, conduct an inventory of its collection, and prepare a teaching guide designed for the final years of elementary education. It is expected that this research will contribute to expanding the use of the UEM Geology Museum in Geography education, strengthening the relationship between the museum environment and basic education, and highlighting museum collections as valuable educational resources for the construction of geographical knowledge.
